Genmaicha
Thereโs a certain kind of comfort that doesnโt shout. It just sits there, warm, steady, and exactly what you needed without making a big deal about it. Thatโs genmaicha.
Green tea blended with toasted rice, giving you this soft, nutty aroma that feels almost like warm cereal in the best way.
Itโs gentle, slightly toasty, and surprisingly satisfying for something so simple.

Ingredients:
- 1 tsp genmaicha (loose leaf) or 1 tea bag (green tea + toasted rice = calm, nutty comfort)
- 1 1/2 cups hot water (not boiling, keep it gentle)
- Optional pinch of roasted rice (for extra aroma if you want to push it slightly further)
Steps:
Step 1: Heat the Water Properly
Bring water just below boiling.
Youโre aiming for hot, not aggressive. Too hot and the green tea turns bitter.
Step 2: Brew with Care
Add genmaicha to a cup or teapot.
Pour in the hot water.
Let it steep for 2 to 3 minutes.
Thatโs enough to pull out the flavor without overdoing it.
Step 3: Strain and Serve
Strain out the leaves or remove the tea bag.
Take a moment with the aroma. Itโs warm, slightly nutty, and clean.
Tip:
If you want a deeper toasted note, lightly warm the dry tea in a pan for a few seconds before brewing. It enhances the rice aroma without overpowering the tea.
Benefits:
- Gentle caffeine level
The rice dilutes the green tea, making it lighter and easier to drink any time of day. - Comforting aroma
The toasted rice brings a warm, almost roasted grain scent that feels grounding. - Easy on the stomach
Smooth, mild, and not too sharp, especially compared to stronger teas. - Balanced flavor
Slightly grassy from the tea, slightly nutty from the rice, clean overall.
Simple, warm, and quietly satisfying.
The kind of tea you donโt overthink but keep coming back to.
