Mood: From Frozen to Flowinโ
When your body feels like itโs been hijacked by a blast of cold air โ stiff hips, achy legs, a touch of โwhat did I do to deserve this?โ โ itโs time for a warm intervention.
This humble duo of ginger and red dates has been the go-to home remedy across generations for one simple reason: it works. In TCM, ginger drives out the cold (่ตถๅฏ), red dates nourish the blood (่กฅ่ก), and together, they make your body feel like it just got a long, loving hug from the inside out.
Whether youโve been overworking, sitting too long, or downing one too many cooling flower teas (guilty), this sweet-spicy brew helps bring balance back to your system โ gently, naturally, and deliciously.
Recipe –
Youโll need:
- 4โ5 slices of fresh ginger
- 6โ8 red dates (pitted and gently squished)
- Optional: 2โ3 goji berries or a small piece of brown sugar
To brew:
- Boil about 600โ700 ml of water.
- Add the ginger and red dates.
- Simmer 10โ15 minutes until your kitchen smells like warmth and comfort.
- Sip it warm โ not cold, not boiling โ just like your emotional temperature after a good nap.

Why Your Body Will Thank You
- Warms the core and says goodbye to that โcold wind invasionโ feeling.
- Soothes the stomach and keeps your blood flowing happily.
- Lifts the mood on gloomy, ache-filled days.
Drink it daily for a week when your body feels icy or low-energy โ or whenever youโve been drinking one too many flower teas and your hips start plotting revenge.
When to Drink
- On cold or rainy days.
- When your body feels heavy, stiff, or โcold inside.โ
- After sitting too long or when recovering from excessive cooling drinks.
- Morning or mid-afternoon is best โ skip bedtime, unless you enjoy lying awake all night feeling too warm ๐ .
What to Avoid
- Pairing with cooling teas (like chrysanthemum, jasmine, or mint).
- Drinking it right after eating cold food or desserts.
- Letting it turn cold before you finish โ reheat gently if needed.
